Landmark Park

Adopt a Farm Animal

The Wiregrass Farmstead at Landmark Park is home to several heritage breeds of livestock, including our Pineywoods cows, Gulf Coast Native sheep, Dominique chickens, and Guinea hogs. Many of these unique breeds are considered rare by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Due to the recent state budget cuts to the Alabama Agricultural Museum which once funded the care of our livestock, we have begun a Farm Animal Adoption Program for our farm animals.

How it Works:
Fill out the registration form and send it to Landmaark Park. Please indicate which animal you would like to sponsor. The monthly or yearly fee paid to sponsor an animal will provide food and veterinarian care for the animal on the Wiregrass Farmstead at Landmark Park.

Benefits to You:
All sponsors will receive a certificate of adoption, a fact sheet about “your” animal and photo. Anyone who sponsors an animal for 3 months or more will also receive 4 free guest passes to visit the park. Schools or youth groups who adopt an animal for the school year will receive one free complimentary visit to the park for your entire group and the opportunity to participate in a special feeding/educational program about farm animals. Special activity sheets/educational packets have been developed for schools/youth groups wanting to participate in this program.
